The Ratiu Forum

The Ratiu Forum

The Ratiu Forum is a joint initiative by the Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation, the Ratiu Democracy Centre and the London School of Economics IDEAS Think Tank. Romania and the Balkan region are priority areas of interest for The Ratiu Forum.

The Ratiu Forum operates at three main levels: sharing expertise through the support of LSE IDEAS, holding regular workshops and lectures, both in-house and public, on subjects of topical interest and expanding external outreach through partnerships with similar institutions.

The current activities of The Ratiu Forum focus on addressing specific areas of concern and threats on illiberal democracy at a national level in Romania. The Ratiu Forum is currently covering subjects like the current state of Romanian Journalism, the various versions of History Teaching, (one which puts the lid on nationalism/populism), and through the Dialogues on Democracy lecture series, the Challenges to Liberal Democracy.

The Ratiu Forum utilizes a wide range of educational tools, from workshops and talks, to the publication of articles and books produced by LSE IDEAS and partners.

New Eastern Europe

New Eastern Europe

New Eastern Europe is the exclusive bimonthly news magazine dedicated to Central and Eastern European affairs published by the Jan Nowak-Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe in Wrocław, a Polish-based NGO think tank. The editorial offices are located in Kraków, Poland.

The mission of New Eastern Europe is to shape the debate, enhance understanding, and further the dialogue surrounding issues facing the states that were once a part of the Soviet Union or under its influence. New Eastern Europe is not a scholarly journal, but takes a more journalistic approach with commentary/analysis from journalists, experts, analysts, writers, historians, as well as leaders and political figures from the East and the West.

Flagship Project FUTURE DEMOCRACY LAB (FDL) Liberal democracy - evolution or existential crisis? New research perspectives: society - state - international system

The main objective of the flagship project is to create a platform for researchers analysing various aspects of the transformations of liberal democracies, democratisation processes, and the liberal international order itself, approaching the issue from multidisciplinary perspectives. In addition, FDL will develop think tank activities translating the research results into society and will be based on strategic cooperation with the already functioning LSE IDEAS CSEEP operating at WSMiP.
